Štramberk - limestone cliffs [ Mountaineering ]

The limestone training rocks in Štramberk surroundings are situated on the jurrasic slopes of Bílá hora above Kopřivnice. The Štramberk training rocks are of the same geological origin as Pavlovské vrchy. The most used rocks for mountaineering are Váňův kámen, Kozí stěnka, Starý lom (The Old quarry), Verdonek and Dallas.
Traffic accessibility: from Štramberk or Kopřivnice railway station (track Studénka-Štramberk-Veřovice) follow the blue marking (20 min.). Access as far as the arboretum in the Old quarry.

A. Váňův kámen
Váňův kámen is 15m high little rock on the jurrasic slope of Bílá hora, hidden in a locust grove. The descent is easy from the northern side. Climbing is possible on the south-eastern and south-western side.

B. Kozí stěnka
Little, but distinctive rock on the grassy slope to the west of Váňův kámen (about 400m).

C. Starý lom (The Old quarry)
An abandoned quarry with arboretum and about 30-40 climbings, the largest (and the most sought-after) area in Štramberk. With respect to protected area, climbing here is limited - daily from 09.00 a.m. to 06.00 p.m.

D. Verdonek
A small area situated behind the Šipka cave. About 10-15 climbings (10m), classification V - VIII. This area is more likely prefered for bouldering.

E. Dallas
A small rock face situated straight under the Trúba castle. A crag with the most difficult climbings in Štramberk. Classification V - X.
